Author Guidelines
The Nigerian Journal of Risk and Insurance (NJRI) welcomes submissions of research papers from researchers and professionals across diverse fields. These guidelines ensure your manuscript meets our standards for publication. Follow the formatting and submission requirements to facilitate a smooth review process.
Criteria for Publication
Manuscripts should:
- Be based on a sound hypothesis, robust methods, and statistically relevant results supporting clear conclusions.
- Be written in clear, scientific English (British spelling, consistently).
- Provide new, relevant information for NJRI’s global readership.
Manuscript Structure
Structure your manuscript with each section on a separate page:
- Title Page: Title (≤40 characters or include a short title), author names, institution, corresponding author’s contact email, grants, and 4–6 keywords.
- Abstract: 100–150 words, one paragraph, no subheadings or abbreviations.
- Main Text: Introduction, Review of Literature, Method, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
- Acknowledgements: Optional, for funding or contributions.
- References: Maintain a consistent citation and referencing style using the current APA style.
- Note: Exclude author qualifications and identifying details from the main text for double-blind review purposes.
Formatting Guidelines
Follow these flexible standards:
- Paper Title: Times New Roman, Font - 14pt.
- Abstract and Other Content: Times New Roman, Font - 12pt.
- Font and Line Spacing: Single line, Before: 0pt, and After: 10pt.
- File Format: Word (.docx).
Section-Specific Guidance
1. Introduction (Present Tense): State the problem, review literature, explain rationale, purpose, and method choice.
2. Methods (Past Tense): Detail specifications, quantities, generic names; include statistical methods; avoid results.
3. Results (Past Tense): Present findings, use tables sparingly, and avoid method descriptions.
4. Discussion (Present Tense): Discuss results, note exceptions, and compare with prior work, state implications and conclusions.
Figures and Tables
- Format: Ensure clarity (e.g., .jpg, .png for figures; tables in text).
- Captions: Below figures, above tables, listed separately.
- References: Cite in text (e.g., “See Figure 1”).
Statistical Analysis
- Specify statistical tests, descriptive statistics, critical value, degrees of freedom, and significance level (e.g., t(28) = 2.15, p < 0.05).
Double-Blind Peer Review
- Exclude identifying details (e.g., author names, institution) from the manuscript.
- Include author information on the title page or cover letter.
Submission Process
Submit via our online portal:
- Step 1: Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting; if already registered, they can log in to submit a manuscript.
- Step 2: Upload your manuscript (and optional title page/cover letter) as a single file or separately.
- Step 3: Submit and receive a confirmation email.
